Born in Barcelona but raised in Galicia, in 2002
Manuel Bolaño made the move back to Barcelona,
where he studied fashion at the Escola Superior de
Disseny i Moda Felicidad Duce.
After a stint on the design team at Mango, he decided
to start work on his own collection.
In 2007 he won the prize for best collection in his category
at Bread & Butter Barcelona, as well as participating
in Murcia’s Abierta Catwalk show and winning
prizes at the Young Creator’s contest in Madrid and the
Noovo festival in Santiago de Compostela. He was also
selected to participate in the Bressol Project, organised
by the Generalitat de Catalunya. In September 2008 his
first collection, “Viudas” (Widows), was paraded on
the catwalk at 080 Barcelona.
In March 2009, his collection “Peliqueiros” was also
shown on the 080 Barcelona catwalk and later at
Rendez-Vous Femme, in Paris. In September of the
same year his collection “Canela en Rama” (Stick
Cinnamon) was shown on the 080 Barcelona catwalk
and the collection “¿Por qué todo ha de ser de color
rosa?” (Why does everything have to be pink?) was
presented in January 2010.
